Ranked 58th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings, Chino Hills has advanced to the CIF-SS Open Division final after upsetting 30th ranked Redondo Union.

The two teams played evenly for almost the entire game.  Redondo went into halftime only leading 34-33.  The third quarter, another tight period, saw Chino Hills take a small 47-44 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Chino Hills kicked things off with an electrifying start.  The Huskies went on a 12-0 run, taking a 15-point lead midway through the quarter.  Redondo battled back, cutting the Hills’ lead down to six at one point, but ran out of time before catching the Huskies.  The final score was Chino Hills 70, Redondo Union 61.

The Huskies victory was filled with great performances by the team.  K.C. Cyprian had a game-high 23 points, 18 of which came from six three-pointers.  Lonzo Ball added on 18 points of his own, followed by Mark Williams and LiAngelo Ball scored 11.

Chino Hills’ defense was another impressive aspect of its game.  The Huskies forced 22 turnovers from the Sea Hawks, leading to many scoring opportunities.

This victory sends Chino Hills to the Open Division final to play Mater Dei.  This will be no small task as the Monarchs rank 1st in the nation.  The two teams meet this Saturday with a 6:30 tip-off for what should be an excellent matchup.

Key Players:

K.C. Cyprian- 23 points

Lonzo Ball- 18 points
